No Video Signal Detected

There are four scenarios that can cause a "No Video Signal Detected" message. Please compare your error message to find out which one applies to you.

#1: If you are using the internal digital tuner...
  • Error Message: “No video signal detected. This channel cannot be displayed; select another channel. View Help for more information.”
  • Solution: This situation pertains to the PAL video standard. You may be unable to stream from certain channels, such as encrypted, pay, shared, data/interactive, or radio. Select another channel and/or rerun Setup Wizard on SlingPlayer PC to remove the above channels from the channel lineup.
#2: If you are using the internal analog tuner...*
  • Error Message: “No video signal detected. Check the cable or antenna connection. View Help for more information.”
  • Solution: The cable may not be securely fastened to the back of the Slingbox or to the antenna. Ensure all the cables are firmly connected.
#3: If you are using the internal analog tuner with an external device...*
  • Error Message: “No video signal detected. Check the cable connection and make sure that the A/V source is set to output on the correct channel. View Help for more information.”
  • Solution: If you are using coaxial input to connect to an external device, it is possible that the device is set to output on a different channel than the Slingbox is. You will need to configure your TV source to output through the coaxial cable on a specific channel (also known as modulating). Then rerun Setup Wizard on SlingPlayer PC to make sure that the Slingbox is set to receive the coaxial signal on the same channel.
#4: If you are using the S-Video or Composite input...*
  • Error Message: “No video signal detected. Check the cable connection to the A/V source. Also make sure that the A/V device is powered on. View Help for more information.”
  • Solution: It is very likely that your device is simply powered off. Press Power on your remote control to power on the device. Also, ensure the cables are firmly fastened to their connectors. If you are still having problems, please visit our support website for more assistance.
* You will need to have physical access to your Slingbox or A/V devices to perform these checks.
