So you've got your new SlingPlayer look. Now you want to know what you do with it. Here are the simple instructions for installing and creating skins and favorites bars.
Skins
Installing your skin is very simple. It happens in two steps: adding the skin to the library, and changing the current skin to your new one.
1. Adding your skin to the Skins Library Follow these instructions to make your new skin appear in the Skin Library listing.
1. Open SlingPlayer. You don't have to connect to a Slingbox.
2. Choose Player -> Options. The options dialog should appear.
3. Go to the Skins tab.
4. Click the "Add…" button. This will open a standard file browse dialog box. It automatically filters out any non-skins files.
5. Find your skin on your computer, then click "Open."
6. This will add the skin to your Skins Library (unless something is very wrong with the skin). It should be automatically listed and selected after the import completes.
2. Changing the current skin
Follow these instructions to make your new skin the currently used (live) skin on SlingPlayer.
1. Open SlingPlayer. You don't have to connect to a Slingbox.
2. Choose Player -> Options. The options dialog should appear.
3. Go to the Skins tab.
4. From the list at left, select the skin that you want to make live.
5. Click "Apply."
6. You will be prompted to restart SlingPlayer. While you do not have to restart immediately, you will not see the change until you do restart SlingPlayer.
Favorites Bars
Favorites are quick to install.
1. Open SlingPlayer and connect to a Slingbox.
2. Click the Favorites Bar Menu icon on the favorites bar region of your SlingPlayer window. By default, the icon looks something like this:
3. Choose "Import…" from the menu that drops down. This will open a standard file browse dialog box. It automatically filters out any non-favorites files.
4. Find your skin on your computer, then click "Open."
5. This will add your favorites bar to the list on the menu. It will automatically be selected and loaded after the import completes, so you can start using it right away.
